Task 7.2: Emission reduction methods (external exhaust gas recirculation and particulates)
This task aims to develop an Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) system for two-stroke marine diesel engines operating on different fuel qualities, as well as, to characterize the particulate emissions from marine engines. A prototype EGR system for two-stroke engines will be designed. The system will be tested by incorporation to an experimental engine. Various engine tests will also be performed in order to investigate the mechanisms of particulate formation.
