Task 9.1: Adaptive Components
The main objectives of this task are the identification of tribological measures having the highest potential to improve the engine efficiency and the investigation of use of adaptive engine components. Reduced friction engine components will be designed and developed. Adaptive components will also be developed using novel actuator materials, such as magnetic shape memory alloys, piezoelectric materials, etc. Prototype components will be manufactured and tested in experimental engines.
