Task 9.2: Tribo-optimisation
The aim of this task is to model, test and design reduced friction engine components. Models describing friction and the lubrication of the piston ring package will be developed. A test apparatus for measuring piston ring friction will be developed and manufactured. Prototype reduced friction components will be designed, manufactured and tested in laboratory engines. A concept of a system monitoring the tribological performance of engine components will be developed.
